Scout

Overview

Todd and Tiffany Davis took over a well-known employee benefits brokerage and wanted to make it their own. Rather than plug customers into existing plans, they wanted to reverse the model and really get to know clients first, then “scout” the right plans and help clients get into plans that made sense for them as individuals.

How We Helped

We named the new business “Scout” after distilling their overview and ethos down to something we thought was meaningful and differential, and we tagged them with “Finding Your Way” to ensure their mission was at the forefront of their conversations with clients. The icon we developed stems from a vintage signal flag and system of communication called Semaphore Code, which spells out letters by holding the flags in different positions. This discovery led to a creative overflow of ideas, apparel, strategy and messaging that reinforces the business’ mission with this strong but simple imagery.

Flexible Mark

The Scout Mark is unique. Though it has a primary state, it does not simply have one shape or size. The mark is flexible; it takes on the shape and proportions of its container. This creates both consistency and variety throughout the project.
